Our commitment
We want StudentMathGames to be usable by as many students, teachers, and parents as possible. This page describes what's currently in place, and where we know we fall short.
What's accessible today
- The homepage, this page, and our Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Contact pages are built with plain, semantic HTML, are navigable by keyboard, and have visible focus indicators for keyboard users.
- These pages work with screen readers and respect your browser's zoom and text-size settings.
- Each game page includes a text title and description for screen reader users, and a clear link back to the full list of games.
- In-game controls can be operated by keyboard (arrow keys or WASD to move, space or enter to confirm), in addition to mouse/touch.
Known limitations
The games themselves are rendered on an HTML canvas - a single graphic that, like a photo, cannot currently be read or navigated by screen readers, and menu buttons within a game require a mouse or touch to select. This means the games are not yet fully accessible to blind or low-vision players, or to players who cannot use a mouse. We recognize this is a real limitation, not a minor one, and it's something we're aware of rather than something we consider solved.
